Coronary Artery Disease Symptoms

A person suffers from coronary artery disease as a result of narrowing of the arteries. Since coronary artery disease develops very slowly it may take several years for the first coronary artery disease symptoms to appear. It is the leading cause of death which are related to heart problem. Proper supply of blood is very important for normal functioning of the body but as a result of deposition of calcium and cholesterol on the artery walls, also called as plaque arteries harden up and blockage occurs in the arteries.

Difficulty In Breathing

You may feel like being suffocated and have difficulty in breathing. Patient might suffer from shortness of breath and fast breathing rate at times. This may result to extreme fatigue and it becomes more severe during any physical activity.

Nausea

If you are feeling like vomiting more often and also suffering from indigestion then it may be a signal that your heart is not working properly because of lack of supply of oxygen and blood.

Heart Attack

When the deposition and clot completely blocks the artery and flow of blood in heart is disrupted then you may have a heart attack. Patient requires immediate health support or else it may be fatal. Major symptoms of heart attack are rapid heartbeat, excessive sweating and unconsciousness.

Dizziness and Weakness

Due to irregular supply of oxygen and blood in different parts of the body you may suffer from weakness and tiredness and may face difficulty in doing strenuous activity. Person can also suffer from dizziness and confusion due to lack of blood in the brain.

Irregular Heartbeat

Patients suffering from coronary artery disease may have problem of irregular heartbeat which may increase frequently causing intense pain. Irregular heartbeat affects proper functioning of whole body.

Pain

The pain in the chest may spread to different parts of the body. It mainly affects arms, neck, jaws and shoulders. It becomes a major problem in everyday life and you may notice fall in your efficiency at work and other activities.

Coronary artery disease can be diagnosed with the help of various techniques like ECG, Electrocardiogram, CT scan and MRI scan. There are many cases when one of the first coronary artery disease symptoms is heart attack thus it is better to have regular check ups so that you can take proper precautions to avoid heart attack. Coronary artery disease can be successfully treated by proper lifestyle changes and medications.

Cholesterol modifying medication can restrict the deposition of cholesterol. You can also take symptoms specific medications for instant relief like aspirin, beta blockers and nitroglycerine. Loosing weight, regular exercise, quitting smoking and reducing the cholesterol content in the diet can help in reducing the risk of coronary artery disease.
